What the number means
3h 22m a day is 1229 hours a year — about 205 books, or one hour-long workout every day of the year, twice over.
Averages hide the shape: most of that time is not one long session but dozens of short opens, a large share of them on autopilot. Our own data across 92,000 interventions shows the same pattern in every country — Instagram first, evenings worst, and a pause that works twice as well when the person names the open “autopilot”.
Colombia combines one of the highest daily social media times in the world with the highest iPhone share in Spanish-speaking Latin America (around a third of phones).

Sources and method
Each figure links to the page it was taken from. DataReportal country reports measure users and connections (Kepios analysis, October 2025); daily time on social media is a GWI survey estimate for internet users aged 16–64 (Q3 2024), as published in DataReportal’s Digital 2025 and charted by Visual Capitalist; Mexico’s hours are INEGI’s ENDUTIH 2024 household survey.
